Work with dashboards

Prev Next

Open dashboards from Dashboards in the side menu. The library sections overlap, so one dashboard can appear in several of them. Other users' private dashboards are never listed.

Time range

The default is Last 7 days. The longest relative option is 30 days; use Custom Range for anything older. Your choice is saved on the dashboard for everyone who can edit it.

The range reaches each widget separately. A widget with no time column ignores it and shows a red clock icon next to its title:

Widget with no time column

A widget is empty on the dashboard but works in Search

This is almost always the time range. Either widen the range, or open ⋮ → Change Time Column and clear the column so the widget ignores the range. Edit Chart is disabled while a widget has no data, so fix the time column or range first.

Filters

Filter lists only the columns returned by every widget's query. One widget without a column removes that column from the list. Dashboard filters are added on top of each widget's own filters, so they can only narrow the results.

Apply Filters changes your current view only. To store the filter on the dashboard for everyone, select Save Filters:

Refresh

Refresh re-runs every query on the dashboard. Afterwards, the button stays disabled for one hour, for everyone on that dashboard. The disabled button shows no countdown, so a teammate's refresh can leave it greyed out with no explanation.

Widgets with identical SQL share one cached result.

Sharing and copying

⋯ → Share Dashboard shares the dashboard with your whole organization. There are no per-user permissions.

  • Sharing also shares every private query behind the widgets. If you are not allowed to share one of those queries, sharing fails.
  • Users with edit permission can change a shared dashboard's title, time range, filters, layout and widgets. Only the owner can unshare or delete it.

Every copy is a private dashboard that you own, named Copy of <name>. Later changes to the source never reach the copy.

Action Available on
Make a copy Hunters Library dashboards, and other users' shared dashboards
⋯ → Duplicate Dashboard Dashboards you own
Copy to workspace Dashboards you own, when you have access to other workspaces. It does not switch workspace; switch yourself to see the copy.

Hunters Library dashboards are read-only. Some open on a fixed date range in the past, and changes to the range are not saved. To use your own time range, select Make a copy.

Saved Table and Pivot sort

After you sort a Table or Pivot widget, a save icon appears next to its title. Select it to store the sort for everyone.

  • A Table's saved sort is applied to the whole result before the 1,000-row limit, so it changes which rows you see.
  • If the query no longer returns the sorted column, the Table shows Saved sort couldn't be applied — showing unsorted results. Sort again and save.
  • A Pivot sorted on a time-bucket column loses that sort once new buckets arrive.

Scheduled email

Schedule Email sends you a daily PDF of the dashboard. You can subscribe to any dashboard you can view, including Hunters Library dashboards, but you cannot subscribe other people.

Schedule daily email

  • Pick a delivery hour in your local time zone. If that hour has already passed today, the first email arrives tomorrow. Around daylight-saving changes, delivery can shift by an hour.
  • Once you save, the button reads Scheduled. Open it again to change the hour or to Cancel report.
  • Each email re-runs every widget query first, which replaces the cached results everyone sees.
  • The schedule stops if the dashboard is deleted, or if you can no longer view it.

Export PDF and delete

Export PDF captures what is currently on screen. It waits up to about 20 seconds for widgets to load.

Only the owner can delete a dashboard. Deleting removes its widgets and stops its email schedules, but keeps the saved queries behind the widgets.
